Ceiling Hoists for Independent Living
I have recently moved into a council flat. My Occupational Therapist has arranged for two ceiling hoists to be fitted, one to get in and out of the bath and one for getting in and out of the bed.
The new hoists that were fitted are battery powered and have to be parked at an end of the rail so they connect to the charger. These Windsor 2’s have a design problem where the battery crimps fall off of the batteries if not crimped tightly. On these units an emergency lowering button is fitted to the hoist for a carer to lower the user. This is no use, if like me, your independent living.
After being stuck hanging from the hoist for three quarters of an hour, I have been lucky enough to have the hoists being changed this coming week, for units that emergency lower from the handset. Thus sensible for independent living.
